So I am bringing this over from the C.A.G.E. forum. It is a list of rules that I think need a FAQ for 6th edition. I think some have a clear cut answer, but I try to present both sides of the argument. In no way is the list exhaustive. If you know of one that needs a ruling, please post it, just try to maintain a similar format. Also if you want to hash out how something is played, please use a different thread.
1.Do vehicles move straight ahead and straight back or can they slide sideways?
Side A: They only move straight forward and back. This is supported on Page 71 under the Vehicle Movement rules in which it clarifies that I may turn pivot my vehicles multiple times during a move and that the pivot does not reduce my movement distance. Why would you need to be able to pivot multiple times, except to change the direction the vehicle is heading? Further other moves like flyers zooming (page 80) and tank shocks (page 85) specify the number of turns allowed and then show that you must move straight forward.
Side B: Vehicles can move in any direction they want. Page 71 never specifies that vehicles may only move straight ahead or back. So then we move to the regular movement rules, since they form the basis set. It states on page 10 that under Turning and Facing, that models may be turned in any direction without reducing their movement, so once again there is no specification to move forward. Indeed specifications to move forward are explicitly given so in rules like flyers zooming (page 80) and tank shocks (page 85).
2.Can I shoot my opponents gun emplacement?
Side A: Yes. Despite fortifications being purchased to include with an army, they are viewed as neutral models. This is is supported by the Choosing Your Army section under Fortification (page 109), stating that they are just emplacements secured by your army. Further rules like Gun Emplacement on page 105 also mention that a model in base contact can fire the gun emplacement, not just friendly models.
Side B: No. My opponent purchased it for their army, making it a model in their army. If it is in their army, then it must be an enemy model, so I cannot shoot it. I also cannot enter their purchased fortifications, and any of their allies that are nor battle brothers cannot interact with their gun emplacement. This is supported by the inability to enter within 1 inch of an enemy model.
3.Are models that are embarked on a vehicle that gets stunned or shaken allowed to shoot normally if they disembark? What about those that embark onto a stunned or shaken transport?
This got FAQ'd today. Or at least the first part did.
4.Can a unit disembark from a transport and then a second unit embark on the transport?
Side A: Models cannot embark and disembark in the same turn (page 28, Embarking and Disembarking). This is a clear order of operations for a specific set of models, showing that they cannot do that particular order of actions and thus gain additional movement. As such one unit may disembark from a transport and a separate one embark onto it in the same turn.
Side B: The reference to being able to embark and disembark is specific to the transport. To read an order of operations into the wording is wrong. The "models" extends to all models, meaning that if anything disembarks then nothing else could embark this turn.
5.Can I shoot with the passengers in my transport and then perform a flat out move?
Relevant Rule, Page 78 - "They cannot fire if the vehicle moves Flat Out or uses smoke launchers that turn"
Side A: The rule is clear. If the passengers fire, then there is no reason that the vehicle could flat out. If the vehicle flat outs, then it is clear they cannot fire. Any other interpretation is making something out of nothing.
Side B: This is an unclear rule, and it is because of order of operations. It is clear that if the vehicle moves flat out, then the transported unit could not fire. However, it never states that if the unit shoots, that the transport cannot flat out. In addition, the order of operations for going flat out and passengers firing (or any firing for that matter)is never stated. So clearly the passengers could fire, then the vehicle make its flat out move.
6. Does perils of the warp allow a Invulnerable save and/or a Feel No Pain roll?
This also got FAQ'd. Yeah for GW. Now just to post some more.
