Just making sure I understand this correctly.
Drop pods can land in difficult terrain but because they are deepstriking, they must take a dangerous terrain test.
If they fail the test the suffer an immobilized result and lose one hull point. However, because they are already immobile, they lose an additional hull point.
Is this correct?

Drop Pods have internal guidance systems. If they scatter onto terrain or other models, they stop moving the minimum distance required to NOT land on the terrain/model.
They can scatter off the board in which case they take a Mishap test.
X(where you want to land), -----Scatter, : Edge of terrain
X-----------:---X If this happens X----------X: This is where the drop pod stops.
At least... That is how I understand it.

They can't scatter onto anything that would cause a mishap, but area terrain doesn't actually cause a mishap. Instead you just take a dangerous terrain test when you land, as well as the guys that disembark.

I re-read the Internal Guidance rule. You are right, it did say "impassible" terrain. Honestly... I don't know. I've emailed GW to see what they say, I copied and pasted your question and sent it to them. I'll let you know what they say.

The response I got was "we do not answer rules questions via email". Thanks guys. They suggested calling their 1800 number.

There's a 13 page debate related to this subject on another 40k site.
If you land in difficult/dangerous terrain (same thing for a vehicle) and fail the dangerous terrain test, your drop pod loses a total of 2 hull points.
Whether you lose a hull point just for landing a drop pod anywhere is a whole other debate.

Thanks for the feedback. I am leaning towards them not autolosing a hull point upon landing. Which site did you see the 13 page argument?
