So overall I am happy with the new missions, but I really dislike the Relic. As a stand alone mission I just feels it falls down. Here is my reasoning.
1.) Missions should encourage player interaction. We play a wargame because we want to fight. As such any mission that is designed with the very idea that non-interaction is encouraged is counter to the goal of playing the game. This mission encourages non-interaction by at least one player. The real goal is to gain the objective as quickly as possible then hide the unit that can control it, or to wait to the last moment and swoop in on the last turn.
2.) All armies should be able to compete at a mission. Regardless of the army, it can compete at the other missions. If you don't have a resilient scoring unit, tough luck. This goes for most xeno armies, which lack the resiliency of marines.
3.) Missions should not come done to who got first or second. First blood should be the most common decider in this mission. Why? Because no matter how tough, the player that goes second should have some plan to kill the single guy (remember one person, not the unit holds the objective) who holds the objective. That means that if you go second, you should be able to kill the guy that has the relic on the final turn. However, since you have to pick it up at the end of your movement phase, you will not have the opportunity to pick it up.
So what are your thoughts on this mission?
